ROBERT PLANT and ALISON KRAUSS

This summer, I had the privilege of working with and for (in my opinion) two of of the most gifted and talented individuals in the entertainment industry today - Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. These posters feature hand-crafted type and some custom illustrations along with some graphic elements thrown in. The red poster with silhouettes was selected by both Robert and Alison as their favorite to be produced and is being sold all over the world in support of their 2008 Raising Sand World Tour. I used a combination of multiple found and given photographs to illustrate their silhouettes. Raising Sand has already won numerous awards and best album trophies, if you've not heard this record - please give it a listen. It is fantastic!

HELLO FROM ICELAND!

The other day I got an e-mail from Frosti Gnarr in Iceland. He apparently saw my work and added me to his network. He is a very talented guy with some beautiful, illustrative work in his portfolio. I especially like the poster he did for the Icelandic University of the Arts, BEAUTIFUL! Stop by and pay him a visit.

THANK YOU, LIVE FROM BKLYN!

I want to thank my new friend Dailey Crafton. He has a wonderful blog called Live From Bklyn and I am grateful to him for featuring me on his site again. He posted another feature regarding my work and illustration blog on Sept 19th. Thanks Dailey!

UPDATE and CURRENT PROJECTS

On Wednesday of this week (September 17th), I got an e-mail from the New York Times, saying that they received my illustration samples and would consider me for future projects. I was very excited! I am currently working on a pen and ink illustration for a book jacket commission and 2 collage illustrations to be used in a brochure for women in medicine. Stay tuned for more details and updates about these and other projects! Cheers!!

Back in July of this year, I was commissioned by recording artist, Brett Dennen to create some watercolor portraits of him for the cover of his new record. I was one of three artist that were pitched to him for his consideration. He liked the Jonny and June illustration that I had created for another campaign (also posted here) so...I was chosen!  After speaking with him, I felt very excited and confident that I could capture what it was that he had envisioned. I was ready to dive in. This process happened quickly and came out of me in the matter of a few hours. This does not always come with such speed and in such a brief period of time for me...I was feeling the creative energy flow and felt honored to be involved. I posted the final, selected version on August 15 and wanted to share these as well. Brett's record hits stores on October 21st...get it! Cheers!
